Statis-Pro Basketball was a table-top sports game created back in the early 1970's. The premise of the game was to take the stats of real life NBA players and create a game card for the player based on the players ability to shoot, rebound, block shots, play defense, get assists, etc. The game did a pretty good job of accurately simulating a real life NBA basketball game, both statistically and from a "gameflow" standpoint. The downside as with most table-top sports games of that era (pre-personal computer) was that it could become very cumbersome trying to maintain all the recordkeeping while looking up play results on charts and player cards.

I've set out to create a computerized simulated version of the game with a few "twists" added to give the game a few extra strategic options. (Hence, the "Enhanced" version.) In the original table-top game, players had only one shooting or "Field Goal" rating. I decided to revise the game to give a player Field Goal ratings for "Perimeter", "Post", "Dribble-Drive", and "3 point" shooting. There is also a "Double-Team / Open" player feature included in my version and players shot ratings are adjusted for this feature.

Like the 88-89 Retro Season released a few months ago this version has two new features to help improve the realism and enjoyment of SP Basketball. They effect shot taking and minutes played. The Stamina rating has been adjusted to now reflect minutes played per half as opposed to the old (FGA's + Rebs + Fouls) formula. A player also now has an S/A rating for (Shot Attempts). Players with low S/A ratings (1-5) won't be able to shoot as much as players with higher S/A ratings (6-10). I hope you like these new features and that they will become a permanent part of future SP Basketball releases.

Most teams now have as many as 15 - 20 players on their roster. You can play games with the full roster of players or let the computer choose players that are eligible for the game based on how many games the player played during the regular season.

As always a data base text file will include teams and players for the 2022-23 NBA season.  You can replay the season either by simulating games or playing them against the "Computer Coach". There is also an option to play in "Solitaire" mode if you desire. The simulate feature allows you to simulate the entire game or simulate the 1st half and play the 2nd or simulate the first 3 quarters and play the 4th. League leaders by statistical categories are available so you can track how your favorite players are doing against the rest of the league.  There are plenty of help screens to give you a thorough understanding of the game.
